Bird Song

The birds are getting louder, and I am here for it.

The birds are getting louder, and I am loving it.

Seems like a light switch turned on after the first warm(ish) day here in the Midwest.

Suddenly, the few robins I saw throughout the winter months seemed to double in number. Then, Daylight Savings happened.

Now, working at my desk in the early morning, there’s a chorus of birds outside my windows. I’ve been listening to the cardinals and black-capped chickadees—they are who saw me through the gray months—but now they’re joined by woodpeckers insistently knocking and songbirds.

Spring migration in Chicago is pretty dang amazing. (That thousands of birds will turn to millions as we get deeper into spring.)

Everywhere, … life is … waking up.

My invitation to you today is to spend three minutes watching this video from the Cornell Lab of Ornithology.

Then consider: What’s waking up in you as we head deeper into spring?
