I love this video.

It’s a portion of a commencement speech of David Foster Wallace.

I really like—and often need—the reminder that many of our experiences are at least in part determined by how we choose to see things.

It’s one of the reasons I try to be conscious and intentional in thinking about how I might always be conscious of the assumptions I make and where I can broaden my perspective and lean into other possibilities.

Doing so almost always allows for leaning into community and another person’s humanity, and that’s never been a mistake.

My invitation to you today is to think where in your life you might remember: This is water. This is water.
